Common problems
How much does a washer or dryer repair cost?
Most of our repairs cost between $150 and $300. Across our last 20 repair jobs the average was about $250.
How much is a refurbished washer or dryer?
Our washers average about $350 and our dryers about $250, plus tax. Prices depend on size and features. Text or WhatsApp us and we'll send photos of what's in the shop this week.
My washer won't drain. What should I check?
Make sure the drain hose isn't kinked and, on front loaders, check the small filter door at the bottom front for socks or lint. If the water still sits there, the drain pump has probably failed. We replace those all the time.
My washer won't spin.
Start by spreading the load out. One heavy towel bunched on one side will stop a spin. If it still won't spin with a balanced load, it's usually the lid switch, the belt or the motor coupler.
My dryer runs but doesn't heat.
On an electric dryer it's usually the heating element or a blown thermal fuse. On a gas dryer it's often the igniter or the gas valve coils. A blown fuse can mean the vent is clogged, so we check that too.
My dryer takes forever to dry.
Nine times out of ten the vent is clogged with lint. Clean the lint screen, then check that air blows strongly outside. If it doesn't, book a vent cleaning. A clogged vent is also a fire risk.
My washer is leaking.
Check the fill hoses behind the machine first, then the door seal on a front loader. Leaks from underneath often come from the pump or a tub seal.
It's making a loud noise.
Banging during the spin is often an unbalanced load or worn suspension. Grinding or squealing points to bearings or a belt. Tell us what it sounds like, or send a video.
Do you repair machines you didn't sell?
Yes. We repair washers, dryers and dishwashers no matter where you bought them.
Can I rent a washer and dryer while I decide?
Yes. A washer and dryer set is $50 a week, and a washer or dryer alone is $40 a week. Pick it up at the shop, or we deliver and install it for a one-time $50. Rentals last up to 2 months and don't count toward buying a machine.
Do you charge for a repair estimate?
The estimate is $50 to $80 depending on where you live. If you go ahead with the repair, we don't charge it.
Is there a warranty on repairs?
Yes. The part we replaced or fixed is covered for 2 months. Machines we sell are covered for 2 months on the whole machine.
